HackUNCP is an annual student-run hackathon hosted by AI@UNCP, an organization at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP). Participants collaborate to build innovative projects over a set time period, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in various fields, including AI and technology.

Check-in for HackUNCP 2024 will begin at 5pm on Saturday, November 2nd, and the event will end around 5pm on Sunday, November 3rd. Stay tuned for a more detailed schedule as we get closer to the event!

Participation is free! HackUNCP covers the cost for all attendees, including meals and swag.

HackUNCP 2024 offers $3,000 in total prizes, with awards for the top three overall winners, along with special prizes for standout projects in specific categories. Winners will be recognized for their originality, technical complexity, and the impact of their projects.

Absolutely! HackUNCP is beginner-friendly, and we welcome participants of all experience levels. Weβll also have mentors and workshops to help you get started.

Yes, if you are a college undergraduate student, you can apply to participate in HackUNCP 2024! We consider student status during the fall of 2024, so students who have graduated prior to the event are not eligible. Additionally, all participants must be 18 years or older by the start of the event.

If you are not eligible to compete but still want to be involved, you can apply to be a mentor or volunteer. team@hackuncp.com

You can create a team of up to 4 members, or find teammates during the hackathon via our team-building activities and platform.
TRACKS & PROJECTS

Hackathon tracks are themed categories that your projects can focus on. Tracks will be announced during the opening ceremony.

While itβs not required, we encourage you to submit your project to get feedback from judges and mentors, and be eligible for prizes.

No, all coding and project development must take place during the event hours. However, you can brainstorm ideas and gather resources before the hackathon.

You may use open-source libraries and tools, but the main project code must be written during the event.
IN-PERSON LOGISTICS

Unfortunately, HackUNCP 2024 is an in-person event, but we hope to provide virtual options in the future.

Yes, we will provide meals and snacks throughout the event to keep you fueled and energized.

Yes! We will have designated spaces for participants to rest or sleep during the event. If you'd like to take a break, we encourage you to bring your own sleeping pad to set up in our rest area for a comfortable recharge.

HackUNCP will take place at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP). The exact location on campus will be announced closer to the hackathon date. You can explore the campus in advance by checking out the UNCP Campus Map or navigate directly through Google Maps.

While we donβt offer travel reimbursements, we do provide transportation for out-of-state participants from RDU airport to UNCP and back.
